The star summer event is the legendary trek to Aigüestortes National Park and Sant Maurici Lake. Carros de Foc programmes include the option of guided ascents to the most representative peaks in the area. Alternative itineraries along wilder, more solitary paths are also available.
The higher mountain passes are still snow-covered at the beginning of the season and some (e.g. Contraix and Monestero) may prove even more difficult for this reason. Extreme caution is advised, and the services of a guide can be useful.
