Located in the province of San Juan, in the Ramada mountain range, this mountain climbed for the first time with mountaineering objectives by a Polish expedition in 1934, is the 8th highest mountain in the Andes mountain range.
It has a climate and geological conformation similar to Aconcagua, so in addition to being a great challenge, it is an excellent training before climbing the highest peak in America. But we must not lose respect for it and consider it a peak of acclimatization. The ascent to the Mercedario is an expedition!
The Mercedario is a mountain with an unusual history: it was climbed by the Incas more than 500 years ago to make sacrifices and offerings. On the way to the mountain there is a small Inca-era ruin at 5200m and even some traces of walls at 6400m.
Come enjoy what an expedition to a 6000 meters means!
